After the research was completed, using the “Text Analysis” fact checker, we came to the conclusion that the article “Kamala Harris hit a 13-year-old girl with a car and left the crime scene” claimed to be false. This rumor was spread by a mysterious website called KBSF-TV, which published a baseless story on September 2, 2024, alleging that Harris was involved in a hit-and-run incident that left a 13-year-old girl paralyzed.
The story was widely shared online, with some right-leaning users citing it and garnering millions of views. However, no evidence of the incident occurring or Harris’s involvement was provided, and searches for press reports from 2011 about such an incident yielded none.
Additionally, the San Francisco police department and Harris’s campaign were contacted, but no credible information supporting the claim was found. The woman featured in the video, who claimed to be a victim, was referred to as both Alisha and Alicia Brown, but her identity could not be verified.
According to the BBC, a website called KBSF-San Francisco News published the story on September 2, but the domain was registered only a few weeks prior, on August 20, 2024, and there is no public record of a KBSF news outlet in San Francisco. The story was also shared by right-leaning users and viewed millions of times, but there is no evidence to support the claim, and the website has since been taken offline.
